Good brushing and good oral hygiene helps treatment progress more quickly. It is very important for patients with braces to establish a consistent routine to maintain good oral health throughout treatment for the best results. There are some foods we recommend avoiding while wearing braces. As loose brackets or appliances can lengthen treatment time, we suggest that patients avoid biting down on anything HARD (ex. ice, apples, and carrots). Additionally, chewy/sticky foods like gum, caramels, and chewy candy like Starburst can also cause problems.
